Abstrakt
The following thesis is the result of a work of correspondence, transversality, and symbiosis of the passions that animate me: my fervour for reading, my devotion to philosophy, and my obsession of cinema. The present work aims to open a circle: one that allows for a circulation of thoughts around three prominent figures of their crafts: Friedrich Nietzsche, László Krasznahorkai, and Béla Tarr. Relying on an intertextual and intermedial method, the goal of our research is to open the possibility and perhaps need for a Nietzschean approach to the works of the two Hungarian artists. In our journey of thought, we will discover in what ways we can hail Krasznahorkai and Tarr as Nietzschean disciples. Disciples whose works contain deep reminiscences of Nietzsches thought. Yet also disciples who, eventually, reveal certain limits and contradictions in the philosophers mind itself. Contradictions which, they argue, were likely the source of the so-called Turin breakdown. In the end, we will acquire new tools of analysis in regards to Krasznahorkais novels, and Tarrs films. Dissecting the tandems characters in light of the crisis of modernity, and the Übermensch Nietzsche extoled in reaction to it; studying the Hellenic aptitude for the pessimism of the force, allowing us to grasp the tandems crafts as the essence of what we can call: the art of metaphysical consolation. Such is the aim of the following work.
